Reading & Literacy

ACCS has totally revised its Reading and Literacy program.  Our curriculum has been updated to ensure that the Language Arts curriculum aligns to the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.  Lessons sequentially follow the New Jersey Curriculum Frameworks. New textbooks were also purchased for the 2017-2018 school year.  

We are using the Writing with Spice program to complement the new curriculum and text.  Students as well as teachers benefit from having the Writing with Spice author visit their classroom throughout the 2017-2018 school year, demonstrating effective teaching techniques for maximizing student achievement in Reading and Literacy.

Staying true to the school’s mission to empower students through the development of necessary academic skill sets, the Reading and Literacy program is interwoven into all other subject areas.
